SPOTLIGHT: JAN BACH KRISTENSEN

pikeyH2OmkI’ve been traveling since I was an exchange student in Australia as a teenager, which was also about the same time I bought my first proper camera. Not long after I took up flyfishing. These days I strive to combine my three passion; traveling, photography and fly fishing. I’ve been lucky to fish and photograph a range of beautiful destinations varying from Scandinavia to far-flung destinations in the Caribbean and beyond.

I love to capture that perfect moment or detail, be it a certain feel, the way the light hits a landscape, the joy of an angler when he lands the fish of lifetime or simply a colorful fin. Using my camera, I notice things that you might otherwise miss. Photography has become as big a passion for me as flyfishing itself – I like how you never stop learning.

Recently, I’ve started taking advantage of the newest generation DSLR’s ability to shoot very high quality video. This opens up a whole new world of possibilities that I’ve thrown myself into. An exciting film project in a destination far off the beaten track is in the works, so watch this space!

Jan’s photography and writings have been published in a number of magazines and catalogs around the world, including Fly Fishing in Salt Waters, Scott Fly Rod Co. catalogs, and Catch Magazine. You can see more of Jan’s work at www.janbachkristensen.com.
