PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla., March 29, 2016 – Military veterans travel to Panama City Beach to experience the rehabilitating power of fly fishing in the eighth episode of “Chasin’ the Sun”, titled Vets’ Fun with Flies, premiering this Sunday, April 3 on Sportsman Channel.
“Chasin’ the Sun” is an outdoors fishing and lifestyle television show filmed in Panama City Beach. This Sunday’s episode features guests of Project Healing Waters, an organization that uses the sport of fly fishing to help heal the psychic wounds of veterans, as they target amberjack and red snapper.
“Project Healing Waters offers experiences for wounded veterans who have made sacrifices for their country,” explains President and CEO of Visit Panama City Beach Dan Rowe. “This episode showcases veterans using their newfound fly fishing abilities to catch saltwater fish off the coast of Panama City Beach.”
In this episode, show host Capt. Justin Leake and professional guide Capt. Todd Jones take veterans on a foray into the Gulf of Mexico in search of amberjack. Leake explains why this aggressive fish is the perfect introductory species for aspiring saltwater anglers. Ron Barwick of Half Hitch shows off the best “all around” rod/reel combo for fishing Panama City Beach’s inshore waters, and veterans enjoy the challenge of catching red snapper on a fly rod.
The show’s regular weekly time slot is Sunday at 12:30 p.m. CST, and each episode will be re-broadcasted on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the early morning on the Sportsman Channel, which reaches 36 million U.S. TV households.
