This is Fly Magazine is screaming from the roof tops to announce it’s 50th issue. Spawned in 2007, the progressive and cutting edge online magazine published out of New York City encompassed more than just rods and reels. This is Fly Magazine was created to present the sport of fly fishing from another angle that had been previously ignored by the current available publications. The goal for its creation was to reach a younger and wider demographic. This Is Fly Magazine appeals to not only the current influx of youth interest in the sport, but also cater to those who spent most of their lives fishing. Through creative writing, photography, design, art and music This is Fly Magazine continues to define the lifestyle and culture for the next generation of fly fishing. Our staff is excited to collaborate with our current colleagues and friends, make new friends and produce the next 50 issues!
This is Fly 50 includes engaging stories from Rob Scott of Tourette Fly Fishing, Kevin Feenstra, Marco Viganò, Andy Danylchuk, Mark Rauschenberger, Dave Karczynski, Shauna Sherard and Keith Munemitsu. Lastly, you need to read This is Fly Magazine and Trout Unlimited’s feature Wild & United addressing the diminishing populations of wild steelhead. Shauna Sherard, Northwestern Director Communications, Trout Unlimited states, “The act of steelheading is a meditation on the land, an exploration of its living veins. It’s about tuning into what’s right in front of you, tuning out the rest and feeling the pull of the river, its insistence, all spiraling downward to the sea and the realization that who we are, where we are is so much more complicated than we think. Do we give that up? Hell no. It’s time we fight harder for it.”
