On my last visit to Bozeman, MT I was ‘enlightened’ after being introduced to a Moscow Mule. “A Moscow mule is a buck or mule cocktail made with vodka, ginger beer, and lime served in a copper mug garnished with a sprig of mint. It became popular during the vodka craze in the United States during the 1950s. The name refers to the popular perception of vodka as a Russian product.” That is what the bartender told me. Although that conversation is fuzzy. The concoction is insanely smooth and when served cold in the copper mug, wow, this could be trouble. It goes down so smooth you can definitely get into some trouble and big brown trout too. While fishing or hell, doing anything in Montana you need to try this drink.
If you aren’t visiting Bozeman or Livingston anytime soon, here is how to make one:
Primary alcohol by volume: Vodka
Served On the rocks; poured over ice
Standard drinkware: copper mug (THIS IS CRUCIAL!!!)
IBA specified ingredients*
4.5cl vodka
0.5cl lime juice
12cl ginger beer
Preparation:
Combine vodka and ginger beer in a highball glass filled with ice. Add lime juice. Stir gently and garnish with a lime slice.
