2019 marks the 10th annual Hardy Cup Casting Competition held at the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum.
In order to encourage greater participation and more fun for all, this year we will be adding a casting course based more on real-world fishing casts rather than simply gross distance. The course that we have chosen for 2019 will present a series of targets at various distances but hampered by obstacles designed to test the skills of young and old, beginner and pro. Reading each target and making the appropriate cast will be the key to winning, rather than brute casting for ultimate distance. We hope to see casters and anglers of all ages and skills try their hands on a fun and inclusive venue where anyone could come home with the prize. We’ll continue with Distance Casting Competition for the Hardy Cup bragging rights.
There will be competitions for both Graphite and Bamboo. We will provide the tackle for the Graphite contest but Bamboo aficionados are welcome to use their favorite rod of 8 weight or under with a length limit of 9 feet.
Prizes are as follows: Graphite: First Prize a Hardy Zephrus 8 1/2′ Rod. Second Prize a Hardy MTX Reel. Third Prize Hardy Fly Lines.
Bamboo: First Prize a Hardy Cascapedia 2/3/4 Fly Reel, Made in England. Second Prize a Hardy Marquis #5 Fly Reel Made in England. Third Prize Hardy Fly Lines.
Admission and events are free with exception of the Orvis 50/50 movie.
