Livingston Manor, NY: The Businesses in two western Sullivan County Towns, Livingston Manor and Roscoe, NY have joined forces to entice and reward mid week visitors to the area with Maycation. Maycation, a word and idea from Jim Krul, Executive Director of the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum, is to encourage mid week mini vacations in the area. Both visitors and fishermen traveling through the two should have a ‘road bump’ to encourage exploration. According to Krul, “many of the fishermen avoid weekend crowds and come to during the week as day trippers and just come and go, maybe if some of the businesses got together with discount stays, food, beverages, and something to check out between or after fishing, they may extend their stay”. After discussion among some of the museum’s local business supporters a group developed some trial discounts to share with all visitors coming in during Maycation days, TWT (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays)
