I was born in the sovereign nation of Texas, but have lived most of my 27 years in the outdoor playground known as Georgia. I’m married to a great girl named Stephanie who has always encouraged me to pursue what I love, which is what led me to start writing professionally about four years ago. About two years ago, I purchased my first camera, a Nikon D80. A good friend told me to shoot fully manual from the get-go so that I would quickly learn what makes a good photograph and I’ve been addicted ever since.
My first book, Fly Fishing Georgia: A No Nonsense Guide to Top Waters, just came out in October and is a look at my state’s best cold-, warm- and saltwater fisheries. While it’s a guide book, it’s also worthy of the coffee table thanks to the help of my good friend and awesome photographer, Chad McClure, who contributed a majority of the 130-plus color photographs.
Because people always have to list who’s published them so they seem credible, I guess I should mention that I’ve had either words, photographs or both published in American Angler, Catch Magazine, Georgia Sportsman, Georgia Outdoor News and Alabama Outdoor News. In my day-to-day, I also shoot photos and write the outdoor column for the Athens Banner-Herald in Athens, Georgia, and shoot photos for Athens Magazine and Skirt! Athens, which is a ladies’ magazine (how’s that for versatility?). I also shoot family portrait- and product shots and photograph real estate.
