SPOTLIGHT:DREW RUSH
By TIF in PHOTO, SPOTLIGHT | 2 comments

Drew Rush started out as many photographers do, guiding clients into the outdoors. During his education at the University of Wyoming, he would spend his summers guiding fishing trips and living in the back of his Nissan pick up in Jackson. After he graduated, he needed something to keep himself occupied during the winter (and pay the rent!) so he began to guide snowmobile trips in the mountains surrounding Jackson.
Taking pictures and writing the occasional story seemed to be a natural progression in the life of someone who’s goal in life is to spend as much time as possible outside. With no formal training in photography, he began to read everything he could to try and figure out how to get his equipment to work. Saving tips, he would update his equipment and add to it whenever he could. He gave himself five years to make it work or he would try something else. That was four years ago.

Now, he has been published in multiple magazines as well as national advertising campaigns for corporate clients. Getting one step closer to fulfilling his childhood dream of being an assignment shooter for National Geographic, he was asked to join the National Geographic Image Sales in June. If you have any questions about photography, or fishing don’t hesitate to drop him a line….he’d be happy to help.
